Jamaican Farewell

Last day at the beach, last sunset. Last long walk to town, through town and down the beach. Saw a stray dog who caught a long giant slimy huge thick black snake, her pups leaping for joy all around her.  Yeak.

Came across an angel on my walk down the beach.

RapunSIL

Day Two in the Penthouse Suite with a 360 degree view of Negril. Had a fantabulous day. Went for a long walk on the beach, ran into my Nebraskan friends and after stopping for a couple of Red Stripes at a gotta to go there again bar....

View from Beach bar
Lisa and Craig asked me to go along to a cross between African Queen/Titanic Riverboat ride through the Mangrove trees of Negril River.

It was hot humid day, I was just melting.....

I love it here, expecially on top of my Castle.  Lisa and Craig met me for Sunset and dinner.

Here are some shots from a top of my Castle.

On the lower deck there is another washroom and shower. So fabulous to take a shower after snorkeling and just walk out and be one with nature with not a soul looking on.

Tried quite a few Jamaica dishes.  Chicken, Goat Curry, Meat Patty's, Jerk Chicken and Jamaican breakfast... Johnny Cakes, Acai and Salt fish breakfast, alll very delicious.

Love the Jamaican people... So friendly.Hey Mon... Sweety, Peace, Respect, Irie..... will miss the shout outs while walking about.  Can't beleive how fast the time has gone.

A Thousand Stars

I'm in heaven. I've moved into my Penthouse Suite, I am standing on one of my three sundecks, having Ting and Rum,  it's night, a warm cool breeze is whirling around me, I can hear the ocean crash on the rocks below, and there are a thousand stars above me. And I have no idea what I did all day. And it doesn't matter.

Negril Beach

Had a fabulouse day in paradise yesterday.  Started off my day with breakfast at Jenny's, a little restaurant/shack just down the road from the Blue Castle.  It's a family run place. Connie is the grand daughter of the original owner.  Connie love loves old time country music and this is what you hear while approaching from a distance.  It's complete with an old dog sleeping under the table.  I think I'll be a regular here.

Then onto to Negril Beach which is about 3 k's from the Castle. Here are some pics from my walk.

And then the beach. .... Negril Beach alias Long Beach is supposed to be 7 miles long and after plopping myself down on a beach chair in front of Margaritaville (and yes inbetween Bob Marley they do play the song) I walked the beach.

After having a great day at the beach and back at my castle, down to my sea cave for a beer or two and watch the sunset.  I brought my music down with me and was enjoying myself too much, dancing, singing (no one could hear me)  Waving at the few passing boats.   Well, I stayed too late, the security guard locked the gate at the top of the stairs.  Trapped!!!!! And I was meeting some friends at 7:30.  Yikes.   Luckily the band (there was a wedding at the Castle) had stopped playing and one of the members of the band heard my calls for help and got the security guard. Damsel in distress..... Saved by the Prince.

Flipped out over Flipper

Here is my new friend Flipper. I think he likes me. I am happy.

Did the Ultimate Swim with the Dolphins today in Lucie, Jamaica. Was quite the experience!!!.  Loved it!!!!. Got pulled by two dolphins by their dorsals fins and then  an almost walking on water experience.  You lay flat on your stomach with arms open and legs straight out and they swim at you push your feet with their heads and all of a sudden you are standing straight up on the water and they keep on pushing you.  When I first saw the others doing it, I thought no way I'll tip over on my side but I did it. Or should I say the Flipper's did it.  What an experience.  Just have this one picture of my experience. You need to sell your first born to buy all the pictures etc. Did splurge to buy this one, it will be my mom's Christmas gift.

I walked to Rick's Cafe today. 4K's from where I'm staying Saw some incredible cliff dives. Forgot my camera.  Oh well will have to go again. Stopped at 3 Dives Jerk Chicken on the way back. Deliciouse.

I changed rooms.  There's going to be a wedding here at the castle. So they switched me over to another room.  This one is great too.
  • Down to my private sea deck

My secret stairway to my sea deck, hey what's waiting for me.

Jamaica Mon

Hi Everymon:

Woke up this morning in my castle, poured myself of hot rich brewed Blue Mountain Coffee, sat on the grounds of the castle overlooking the sea and thought to myself "What a Wonderful World". I think I want to stay here.

I'll back up a bit.  Trip here went pretty well.  A bit of a frazzle at Winnipeg Airport.  I took a carry on and a daypack to find out that the daypack was too big. So here I am down on the floor in Winnipeg Airport with all my luggage open and items strewn around trying to re-organize.  People must of though I was nuts. Some mad pony tailed woman on the ground with florescent lime green flippers, blue noodle and a wine glasses, the West Jet staff were amused.

As I am typing this a catamarine is floating by (and yes I'm having a Red Stripe beer).
Listening to Riahanna.

The ride from the airport to Negil was interesting. The steering wheel of the car is on the left side, they drive on the left side, and when there is a road side saying SLOW, they speed as fast as they can. Got to the castle last night in time for my first sunset. Glorious. Then out and about, pretty pitch black out on the streets of the West End, didn't venture too far. But I did meet a Jamaican named Long Beard. Guess why.  I met him again in the daylight. He was thrilled I remembered his name. Here is Long Beard.

I found a little place to have a few beer and I met lots of people.  The owner's wife was in Winnipeg visiting friends last summer. Small world.  It is called No Limit.   Here is it.

Here is my room at the Castle.

While walking to a grocery store to stock up the fridge.... some pretty flowers.

Went for a long walk into town and then Negril Beach.  Long Beach and let me tell you it is long, didn't even make it to the end, another day.  Of course, don't know how, passed the backlane where I cut through to the beach and I walked too far and had to cut through a little shanty like settlement. Everyone was friendly and greeted me as I literally was cutting through their yards.

A Jamaican Farewell .... till tommorow.
